Iranian Qari Happy with Performance at Kuwait Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Mahdi Gholamnejad said he was satisfied with his performance at the 9th international Quran competition of Kuwait.

 

He told IQNA that he recited verses 12 to 18 of Surah al-Hujurat at the competition on Thursday night.

Gholamnejad said his recitation was good and he was happy with it.

As for the other contenders in the recitation category of the competition, he said the representatives of Indonesia and the Philippines did not live up to the expectations in their performance.

He went on to say that contenders from Iraq, Kuwait and Malaysia, who have not taken to the stage yet, are expected to display high-level performances.

Iran’s representative in the category of memorization of the entire Quran is Mohammad Javad Delfani.

Kuwait’s 9th international Quran contest, known as the Kuwait Award, kicked off in the Arab country’s capital on Tuesday.

As many as 130 Quran reciters and memorizers from 79 countries are present in the Quranic event.

Winners of different categories will be announced on Wednesday and awarded in the closing ceremony on Thursday.
