Autistic Student Memorizes Entire Quran
Ahmad Zahiruddin recently graced the Berita Harian headlines, for memorizing the Quran, after more than two years of hard work and persistence.
The Quran contains 114 of surahs, or chapters, of varying lengths that consists of revelations from God, and the Darul Quran academy student in Selangor, Malaysia, claims he loves reading the holy book because, "When the Quran is embedded within ourselves, it will shape us to become a more patient and better person.”
Growing up, Ahmad Zahiruddin suffered from bullying due to his condition, so his father made sure to choose a suitable place for his son to pursue his studies after SPM.
The decision to enroll his son into Darul Quran, made Ahmad Zahiruddin the first autistic student to be a part of the school – and it turned out to be the perfect move, or rather a blessing in disguise.
"I’m very grateful for the co-operation given by the academy,” said his father Zailani Ahmad, as his son declared his love of learning especially with the help of his lecturers.
All Ahmad Zahiruddin’s efforts have not gone to waste, as last week at the Darul Quran mosque in Kuala Khubu Baru, he completed his memorization of the Quran.
Clearly, this achievement is a proud moment for the autistic young man and his family, as how many of us – abled individuals – can say we have achieved the same?
May his story inspire us to never take the blessings in life for granted, and strive to achieve what we want in life, as well as never stop persevering until we’ve achieved our goal.
It's not easy memorizing over a hundred chapters, and it takes a lot of dedication, appreciation, love and sincerity for the religion to do it.
