University students from Iran and other countries participated in the program, competing on Tarteel recitation of Surah al-Buruj.
The participants could also record their Quran recitation and send it to the judging committee of the festival.
The Islamic Association of Students in Mysore hosted the competition on the 27th day of the holy month of Ramadan from 4 to 6 p.m. local time.
Ten top participants will be announced on Eid al-Fitr (Monday).
They will be awarded certificates by the Union of Students’ Islamic Associations.
During Ramadan, the ninth month in the lunar Hijri calendar, Muslims devote a considerable amount of time reading and contemplating the Quran.
Quranic programs and activities are also very common during this month in Muslim countries and Muslim communities elsewhere.
