Takbiri’s trip was scheduled for Friday but he could not board the plane as the competition’s organizers had failed to buy a ticket for him on time.

However, Master Mutaz Aghaee who has been scheduled to accompany the Quran memorizer in the competition as a guide boarded the plane and flew to the Sudanese capital.

Takbiri said officials of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, which is responsible for sending Qaris and Quran memorizers to international contests, have been in contact with the competition organizers and will soon resolve the issue.

The 9th edition of Sudan’s international Holy Quran competition will be kick off in Khartoum on Sunday.

It had been slated for January 5 but was postponed to January 7.
