TEHRAN (IQNA) – A competition on recitation of the Holy Quran for school students was held in Glostrup, near the Danish capital of Copenhagen, on Wednesday.

The Fateh Mosque, affiliated to the Union of Denmark’s Islamic-Cultural Centers, organized the Quran contest.

The participants competed for the top prize in two stages, according to meynet.com website.

The panel of judges announced the winner at the end of the competition on the same day.

Addressing the awarding ceremony, Ilyas Kokcu, head of the union, underlined that winning was not the main point of the competition but it was aimed at promoting contemplation in the Quran.

He also urged that Muslim parents teach their children the importance of striving for a good status not only in this world but also in the Hereafter.

Islam is the largest minority religion in Denmark. According to some estimates, Muslims make up about 5 percent of the country’s population of 6 million.
