Algeria’s Int’l Quran Competition Begins in Algiers

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 15th edition of Algeria’s international Quran competition kicked off in the capital Algiers on the 20th of the holy month of Ramadan, June 5.

 

According to Algeria News, representatives of 53 countries have participated in this year’s edition of the international Quranic event.

It is annually organized by the North African country's Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

Quran memorization, Tajweed recitation and Quran interpretation are the categories of the competition.

Algiers Exhibition Centre hosts the competition, which will conclude on June 11.

Mohammad Mahmoudi, who is a memorizer of the entire Quran, will represent Iran in the international contest.

A national Quran memorization competition for children and teenagers under 15 years of age will be held on the sidelines of the event.

The international Quran contest has been organized in Algeria every year since 2003 and is sponsored by Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
