TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian official said three Quran exhibitions are planned to be mounted in the border crossing with Iraq during the Arbaeen season.

Abdul Hadi Feqhizadeh, Quran and Etrat Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said they will be organized in the Chazzabeh, Shalamcheh and Mehran border crossings on the path of Arbaeen pilgrims.

He further described the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a global phenomenon that the world’s elites, Muslim or non-Muslim, should contribute to.

Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy city marking Arbaeen.

Arbaeen falls on Tuesday, October 30, this year.

Like previous years, Iran will send a convoy of Qaris and Tawasheeh groups named Noor (light) to Iraq during Arbaeen.

They will perform programs such as Quran recitation sessions and Tawasheeh (religious singing) for the pilgrims on their way to the holy city of Karbala.
