TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior member of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group was killed in an operation in Iraq on Friday, a military official said.

Inad Saadoun, commander of the counterterrorism operations in Saladin Governorate, said forces of the Iraqi army in cooperation with Popular Mobalization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) identified and killed Hamid Jassam al-Falu, a Mufti of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS).

He noted that al-Falu had issued a Fatwa in 2014 that led to the murder of all men belonging to a tribe in the governorate, Mavazin news website reported.

The Iraqi commander added that al-Falu had also collaborated in the execution of 22 army officers by Daesh in Tikrit.

Baghdad declared the collapse of Daesh in Iraq in November 2017 with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the terror group’s last bastion in the country.
