Al-Azhar Nat’l Quran Contest Kicks Off in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final round of a national Quran competition organized by Egypt’s al-Azhar Islamic Center got underway on Saturday.

 

According to dmcnews.org, students studying at schools and Quranic centers affiliated to al-Azhar have taken part in the contest.

Sheikh Abdul Halim Mohammad, an official with the center, said 2755 students participated in the preliminary round.

Those who made it to the final round are competing at three levels of Quran memorization (memorization of entire Quran, 25 Juzes and 18 Juzes), he said.

The competition is underway in the city of Luxor and will continue until Tuesday, he added.

Top winners in the three categories will be awarded cash prizes at the closing ceremony, according to the official.
