Palestinian Contender in Jordan Int’l Quran Contest for First Time

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A representative from Palestine is attending the international Quran competition in Jordan for the first time.

 

The 37th edition of the contest, named Hashemi Quran Award, got underway in the Arab country’s capital of Amman on Saturday.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Jordanian Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal, noted that this year’s competition is for the first time seeing the participation of a Quran memorizer from the holy city of Quds in Palestine.

“We hope we will be able to organize the Hashemi Quran Award in Quds in the future,” he added.

There are 39 Quran memorizers from 38 countries taking part in the 2019 competition.

Iran’s contender in this edition is Mohammad Rasul Takbiri.

The awarding ceremony will be held on Thursday.
