All Iranian Hajj Pilgrims to Return before Muharram: Official

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian Hajj official said all of the country’s Hajj pilgrims will return before the beginning of the lunar Hijri month of Muharram.

Hamid Reza Azarpey said the Iranian pilgrims’ flights to Saudi Arabia started on June 12 and will continues for another week.

He said the last flight will arrive at the Jeddah International Airport on July 4.

Those pilgrims who entered Saudi Arabia via the Jeddah airport will leave via Median airport and vice versa, he noted.

Azarpey added that the return flights to Iran will begin on Friday, July 15 and end on the 29th day of Dhul Hajja, which falls on July 29.

Therefore, all Iranians attending the Hajj rituals will be back before the start of Muharram.

The Hajj quota for the Islamic Republic of Iran this year is 39,600.

Saudi Arabia has announced that it will receive foreign pilgrims for Hajj this year after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Figures show some 1.2 million Iranians are on a waiting list for travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj pilgrimage.

They have been waiting for years for their turn.

Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
