Muscat Mosque Hosting Quran Competition for Youth

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 28th edition of a Quran and Hadith competition for the youth of the member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council began on February 26 in Muscat, Oman.

According to KUNA news agency, the competition is being hosted by the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. 


Quran Competition for Youth Kicks Off in Oman


40 Quran reciters and memorizers representing the six countries of the council are taking part in the competition. 

Kahlan bin Nabhan Al-Kharusi, the deputy of the Grand Mufti of Oman, in an address to the opening ceremony of the contest on Sunday said that such Quranic events encourage the youth to memorize and read the Holy Quran.

He added that the younger generation is qualified to disseminate the message of Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Muhammad bin Said Almunawari, the head of the organizing committee of the competition, also addressed the ceremony, saying that three age groups of Quran activists, 21 to 25, 16 to 20 and 11 to 16 years old, are attending the competition.

He added that the Quranic event, which will continue until March 3, has been planned in line with the activities of the secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
