According to ALAN news website, Ahmad Walad Ahl Davoud, Mauritania’s minister of Islamic affairs, said that the competition has been organized in line with the objectives of the ministry to encourage the youth to read and act upon the teachings of the Divine Book.
The ministry announced that 300 male and female Quran activists have participated in the preliminary stage of the contest.
Top participants will represent the country at the international Quran competitions.
The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in the Maghreb region of western North Africa.
The country’s population is estimated to be about 4 million and virtually all Mauritanians are Muslims.
Quranic activities and programs are very popular in the African country.
