TEHRAN (IQNA) – One of the principles emphasized in the Holy Quran is that of Adl and moderation in all aspects of life.

Holy Quran

God says in Verse 38 of Surah Al-An’aam: “We have not neglected anything in the Book.” Hence, everything mentioned in the Quran is within the realm of Adl and moderation. There is no going to extreme and no immoderation in the Holy Book.

Those who follow the Quran are, therefore, like that. They all follow the path of moderation.

The secret to it is the fact that the relation with God is the straight path and a short path. There are no warps and curvatures in this path. If someone takes this path, he will surely get to the destination he wants to reach.

It is important that the first step on this path should be abandoning selfishness, conceit and worldly desires.

This straight path is both straight and short because God is closer to us than than even our jugular vein.

The Quran puts it in the most knowledgeable way, saying, “Know that Allah is between the person and his heart.” (Verse 24 of Surah Al-Anfal)

What distorts this path is worldly desires and immoderation.

Imam Ali (AS) says in Hadith 117 of Nahj al-Balagha:

“Two categories of persons will face ruin on account of me: he who loves me with exaggeration, and he who hates me intensely.”

So those who go out of the path of moderation will face ruin.

But the third group are those who act and think moderately. They consider Imam Ali (AS) a pure servant of God.

Adl and moderation should be dominating all aspects of one’s life and Imam Ali (AS) is a true example of such individuals.
