BAGHDAD (IQNA) – Iraq’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani has called on all Muslims to help Palestinian nation as the Israeli regime continues relentless strikes on the Gaza Strip.

“We call on all Muslims to come to the assistance of the Muslim people of Palestine [and] respond to their loud cries for help,” the senior cleric said in a message on Monday.

Grand Ayatollah Sistani also urged all Muslims to do their utmost to "deter the aggressors," reclaim the usurped rights of Palestinians, and save them from Israel's onslaught.

He added that the Islamic land of Palestine should be saved from "usurping aggressor."

The Palestinian fighters say they started Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Saturday, describing it as a response to the Israeli violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the ongoing campaign of bloodshed and destruction against the Palestinian people.

The occupation regime has announced that it is preparing for a long war in the Gaza Strip. It has called up an unprecedented 300,000 reservists to join the offensive, which has already killed more than 700 Palestinians, including 140 children and 105 women.

The Gaza Health Ministry says that nearly 3,900 Palestinians have been injured by the Israeli attacks, which have targeted residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure. The Israeli air force says it dropped more than 1,000 tonnes of bombs and 2,000 munitions on Gaza on Monday.

The Israeli attacks have also forced more than 123,000 people to flee their homes in the besieged territory, according to the United Nations.

The Gaza Strip has been under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007, which has been tightened since the start of the war. The blockade prevents the entry of essential goods and humanitarian aid to the impoverished population.
