Ayatollah Sistani Offers Condolences after Terrorist Attack in Iran’s Kerman

IQNA – Iraq’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani expressed his condolences after dozens of people were martyred in a terrorist attack in Iran’s southern city of Kerman.

Two explosions rocked Kerman on Wednesday afternoon, killing at least 84 people injuring 188 more.

The terror attack targeted the burial site of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in the city during a ceremony marking his fourth martyrdom anniversary.

No group has claimed responsibility for the terrorist blasts yet. 

In a message on Wednesday, Ayatollah Sistani offered his condolence to the bereaved families of victims and the Iranian people of for the tragedy.

He also prayed for forgiveness and divine grace for those martyrs in the attack and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The brutal act of terrorism also drew widespread condemnation from various countries and international organizations.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement strongly condemned it, stressing that such a cowardly move will strengthen the Islamic Ummah’s solidarity with the resistance, one of whose symbols is Martyr Soleimani.

Leader of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement Sayed Ammar al-Hakim denounced the terror attack and called on the world community to join hands and cooperate in fighting terrorism and counter its negative effects on nations’ security and stability.

The political office of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement also reacted to the terrorist attack in Kerman.

In a statement, it offered sympathy with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Leader, government and nation and condoled the families of victims.

The statement underlined that the Islamic Republic is stronger than all plots and that the moves by the US and the Zionist regime aimed at spreading instability are doomed to failure.

The Hamas resistance movement, the United Nations’ secretary general, the European Union, the presidents of Russia and Turkey, the foreign ministries of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Venezuela, Ireland, and Germany also condemned the terrorist blasts in Kerman and offered sympathies with the people of Iran and the families of the martyrs.
