Lebanon’s Association of Muslim Scholars has called for Islamic countries’ solidarity with the Palestinian nation.

In a statement issued Friday, the association praised the recent operation by Palestinians in the holy city of al-Quds and underlined that resistance is the only way to confront the Zionist regime.
“Any other way under the title of peaceful solution or Arab initiative would only be a pretext for the Zionist regime to continue its occupation of Palestine,” it said.
The statement added that Arab and Muslim countries must not forget Palestinians.
Tensions have been running high in East al-Quds since November 18 when at least four Israelis and two Palestinians were killed in an attack on an al-Quds synagogue.
Back in October, Israeli forces denied all Palestinians entry into the al-Aqsa Mosque over the death of an Israeli right-wing activist.
Palestinians are extremely angry at Tel Aviv’s raids and restrictions, considering them as part of its plan to Judaize and desecrate the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds.
In October, the Israeli regime ordered a full closure of the al-Aqsa Mosque but later opened the holy site after widespread protests.
The al-Aqsa Mosque compound, located in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, is a flashpoint holy Islamic site. The location of the compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, is the holiest site in Judaism. The mosque is Islam’s third-holiest after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
Over the past decades, Israel has tried to change the demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites and expelling the local Palestinian population.
