Coronavirus Protocols for Eid Al-Adha Announced in UAE

The safety guidelines were announced by Taher Al Ameri, NCEMA official spokesman on July 4 during a special media briefing.

NCEMA has urged worshippers to follow these rules while offering special prayers in the mosques on Eid Al-Adha.

As per the announcement, the duration of the Eid prayer will be limited to 20 minutes, during which worshippers must wear masks and maintain a distance of at least one meter. Additionally, the use of personal or disposable prayer mats is advised

Mosques and prayer halls will be open after the dawn prayers on Eid day. Entry and exit to places of worship will be supervised to prevent overcrowding. Parks and other areas nearby can be used to receive additional worshippers.

Moreover, stickers to follow physical distancing will be placed across the outdoor spaces surrounding mosques. Gatherings, physical greetings and handshakes before and after prayer should also be avoided.

Eid Al-Adha will fall on Saturday, July 9, in the UAE as the Dhu Al-Hijjah crescent moon was sighted on the evening of June 29.
