TEHRAN (IQNA) – Two messengers of God were once tasked with carrying out an important mission under difficult conditions. They were told: “Have no fear I shall be with you.”

No Fear As God Is Always with Us

Pharaoh was the ruler of Egypt at the time of Prophet Moses (AS). Pharaoh symbolizes conceit, selfishness and rebellion against God. According to the Holy Quran, Moses (AS) and his brother Harun (AS), both messengers of God, are tasked with going to Pharaoh and invite him to worshiping God.

The two prophets were afraid that Pharaoh might reject it and harm them.

“They said, ‘Lord, we are afraid of his transgression and rebellion against us.’” (Surah Taha, Verse 45)

Under such circumstances, one expects certain equipment or a group of people to help them in the face of such a threat. God however reassures them: “He (God) replied: ‘Have no fear I shall be with you, both hearing and seeing.’” (Surah Taha, Verse 46)

Such a reassurance shows that messengers of God and the faithful who tread on the path of God can rely on faith and put their trust in God to do great things without needing to be worried about dangers and harms.

The statement “Have no fear I shall be with you” is an encouragement for those with strong faith. It gives such a strength to the believers that frees them from all fear.

Stressing how close He is to mankind, God says in another verse: “We are closer to him than even his jugular vein.” (Surah Qaaf, Verse 16)

In his Noor Exegesis of the Quran, Mohsen Qara’ati highlights the following points from these verses:

1- Inspecting possible problems and impediments and having fear of the future are not unusual for messengers of God. (“They said, ‘Lord, we are afraid of…’)

2- Rebellion, spreading rumors, and leveling accusations against men of God are what tyrants and oppressors do when faced with the truth. (Lord, we are afraid of his transgression and rebellion against us.)

3- Faith in God and belief in divine aid help to encourage and hearten believers. (I shall be with you.)

4- When you give someone a mission, you should give him motivation and encouragement and provide him with what he needs. (I shall be with you, both hearing and seeing.)

5- God’s compassion and blessings are for all human beings but He blesses the messengers more than others.
