TEHRAN (IQNA) – A valuable copy of the Quran dating back to the 13th century AH was restored in a department of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas Shrine in Karbala.

The Astan’s department of intellectual and cultural affairs announced that it has restored a valuable Quran dating back to the thirteenth century AH.

According to alkafeel.net, the restoration process was supervised by the Al-Fadl center for the conservation and preservation of the manuscript.

Laith Lutfi, the director of the center, said that the historic copy consists of six Juzes (parts), and restoration operations have begun with a biological and chemical examination of it.

The tests, he maintained, determined the components of the work’s colors, inks, decorations, leather, and paper.

“The most complicated stage was the process of restoring the outer casings, as they contain deep engravings of gold flakes. These flakes were lifted, cleaned, repaired, and returned to their designated places, which required precise technical and technical work,” he said.

He noted that the restoration process took three months.
