Large Number of People Attend Quran Memorizers’ Graduation Ceremony in Sudan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A large number of people attended a graduation ceremony held for 150 memorizers of the Quran in northeast Sudan.

The event in Hamshkourib included a Quranic rally with the motto of “Wa bil-Quran Ala Dhikrihim” (And with the Quran, He elevated their name).

The 150 graduates have memorized the Quran in the Maktabs (Quran schools) of the city, according to Al-Jazeera.

The Maktabs, which are also known as Khilawi, are the main venues for learning the Quran in the African country.

Social media users have hailed the massive presence of people in the ceremony, which was also attended by city officials and managers of Maktabs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sheikh al-Amin Hamid, a representative of the city’s Maktabs, said the city was proud of having 150 Quran memorization graduates.

Sudan is a country in northern Africa. Over 97 percent of its population is Muslim.

Quranic activities are prevalent in Sudan and its people are very keen on learning the Holy Book. Many people in the country know the entire Quran by heart.
