TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Arab Parliament called on the United Nations to condemn the Zionist regime’s crime against Palestinian prisoner Sheikh Khader Adnan and support other Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons.

The Arab Parliament in a statement condemned the Tel Aviv regime for killing Sheikh Adnan, a member of the Islamic Jihad movement.

The statement said the Zionist authorities have adopted the policy of medical negligence regarding Palestinian prisoners, including 24 of them who are suffering from acute and life-threatening diseases like cancer.

It underlined that the UN, the International Committee of Red Cross and international human rights and humanitarian organizations should support Palestinian prisoners and ensure the implementation of the Geneva Convention about them.

Sheikh Adnan died in an Israeli prison on Tuesday after nearly three months on a hunger strike.

He “refused to undergo medical tests and receive medical treatment” and “was found unconscious in his cell” in the early morning on Tuesday, the Zionist regime’s prison service said.

Adnan began his hunger strike shortly after being arrested on February 5.

He had gone on hunger strike several times after previous arrests, including a 55-day strike in 2015 to protest his arrest under so-called administrative detention, in which suspects are held indefinitely by the Israeli regime without charge or trial.

His death has drawn widespread condemnation, especially in the Arab and Muslim world.
