AL-QUDS (IQNA) – The Arab Parliament censured Israeli violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of al-Quds, calling for immediate action to prevent such moves.

Arab Parliament

In a statement on Monday, it denounced the incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque led by extremist former Knesset member Yehuda Glick, Palinfo website reported.

The Arab Parliament also strongly condemned the desecration of Islamic graveyards in al-Quds by Zionist settlers under the protection of Israeli forces and the desecration of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil (Hebron) as well as Israeli forces’ move to prevent worshipers from entering the mosque.

It further denounced a Zionist raid on Nur Shams Camp in the West Bank that led to the martyrdom of two Palestinian youths on Sunday.

Such criminal acts are crimes against humanity the statement said, also warning that incursions into Al-Aqsa will lead to the escalation of tension and violence in the occupied territories.

It called on the United Nations Security Council and all international rights bodies to exert pressure on the Zionist regime to stop its crimes against the Palestinian nation and the country’s sanctities.

The Arab Parliament is the legislative body of the Arab League.

A number of Arab and Muslim countries, including Jordan and Egypt, have also condemned the Zionists’ incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian media reports said on Sunday that Israeli settlers, led by extremist rabbi and former Knesset member Yehudah Glick, entered the courtyards of the holy site in large numbers through the Moroccan Gate, also known as the Mughrabi Gate, and made a provocative tour of the premises.

The Islamic Endowment Department in al-Quds was cited by the Palestinian Shehab news agency as saying that 522 settlers provocatively performed rituals and Talmudic prayers in the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in violation of the site’s status quo.

Safa News Agency, another Palestinian media, said the settlers performed provocative dances and songs at Bab al-Silsilah after leaving al-Aqsa and in front of Bab al-Qattanin, west of the mosque.

The occupation regime has deployed soldiers inside and around the mosque to secure the intrusion and prevent Palestinian worshipers from entering the holy site since morning.
